Social Innovation Japan (SIJ) held the 1st Social Entrepreneur Gathering (SEG) on 1st and 2nd October, 2005 at Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Japan. The SEG 2005 was the very first gathering for social entrepreneurs in Japan. Nearly 200 people, such as social entrepreneurs, business persons, government officers, students and academics, attended the big event.
Social entrepreneurs are emerging globally, but Japanese social entrepreneurs had almost no opportunity to gather and foster cutting edge knowledge of Japanese social entrepreneurship until SEG 2005.
