------------------------------------------------------------------ □□□2.Award Winners□□□ UBS Kids in the Arts Award 2007 ■ N Project Committee An art teacher in Nagano city started this project in 2004 to get kids to like arts more. This project creates “art museums” for schools, which enables children to plan and manage art exhibitions by themselves as “kid curators”. Not only do the children learn to appreciate the artists’ works, but they also get actively involved in mastering art skills. It is an excellent way to improve and promote children’s “art literacy”. The project has developed into community development activities, such as lighting event by kids and local business association. ■ NPO Plus Arts The “Something +arts ” project aims to solve various social issues, such as education, welfare services, environmental protection and so on, by introducing a sense of values and artists’ creativity into activities. They implement programs, such as “disaster reduction +arts” where children enjoy and conduct disaster drills; and the response is remarkable. They make the most of art and have kids and people engage in social issues.
